La Voce del violoncello
La Voce del violoncello explores the inventive repertoire of the first great Italian cello composers. Composers such as Dall'Abaco, Supriani, Vitali, Ruvo, Colombi and Galli were able to contribute to the corpus of works for solo cello with a style refined by their in-depth knowledge of the instrument.
With the exception of a detour to the unmissable J.-S. Bach, cellist Elinor Frey offers a program that is almost tutto italiano, satisfying both the desire to hear the great works of the repertoire and the curiosity of the audience. The concert will take place outdoors, in the magnificent setting of the Jardin de Silice.
Elinor Frey is a cellist, gambist and researcher whose work is celebrated and recognized internationally. Her unrivalled knowledge of the Baroque cello repertoire has been instrumental in the rediscovery of many works that might otherwise have been overlooked. The recipient of numerous awards, with a doctorate from McGill University and a diploma from the prestigious Julliard School of Music, she alternates between her many activities as a concert artist, researcher and professor of Baroque cello at the Université de Montréal and McGill University.
