A playful juxtaposition of medieval and Renaissance music with the rich musical repertoire of French-Canadian folklore. Finding common themes and characters, similarities in sonorities and writing techniques, Les Idées heureuses has fun moving from one style to another, highlighting the obvious influence of the Middle Ages on our local songs. An original idea from Jean-François Daignault, who is responsible for the musical direction and brilliant arrangements.
From the same musical canvas, you'll discover little-known works by Dufay, Ciconia and Machaut, and certainly recognize popular works such as Partons la mer est belle, C'est dans le mois de mai, M'en revenant de la jolie Rochelle and, of course, À la claire fontaine.

Ensemble Alkemia is an early music ensemble dedicated to the rigorous yet playful exploration of over a thousand years of vocal repertoire. Composed of Dorothéa Ventura (vocals), Jean-François Daignault (vocals, wind instruments and arrangements) and Ghilsaine Deschambault, it is with contagious pleasure that the ensemble invites the public to discover this playground rich in possibilities, which they have made their own like no other early music ensemble.
